So...Kameron recently did his first Science Fair Project...and it was kind of a nightmare. Each kid in his class was given a plant(the same one) and they were to take it home and water it with whatever liquid they were assigned for two weeks. Sounds easy right? The watering part was easy, it was the writing of the Hypothesis, Procedure, Observations, Conclusion and Biblical Application that made it hard.
Really, I did a science fair project using Kameron's ideas. We were up 'til midnight making his tri-fold presentation board over which there were many tears shed. He then proceeds to tell me that he is not very proud of it because it's not really what he wanted but it's ok (as if that's supposed to make me feel better). "I didn't want to do a science fair project, so it doesn't really matter if I like it and am proud of it," I told him. So he drew all over it and made it his own.
Fabulous. And now when I see it, I think of how lovely it looked before...being a perfectionist is hard.
Kameron had to water his plant with oil. Needless to say, it did not survive the two weeks as you can see in the picture.
In the end, it's no big deal, but of course I have to make everything drama and get all worked up over having everything perfect. Let's be honest, I don't produce very many things on a regular basis that people will see or grade, or rate. My house is clean, dishes are washed, laundry is done, and family is fed regularly, but those things go unnoticed or appreciated. So when I make a presentation board, I want it done with excellence...perhaps I need a new hobby so I don't get over-involved in my kids school-work.

Totally relate to the perfectionist thing -- not looking forward to science projects --I am a completely impatient person!
lol. don't feel badly. i once called home to talk to my mom..she said she was busy making an eagle diorama for my brother's science project. first of all, my brother wasn't even home, second of all, he was in the 8th grade. lol. i guess in the end, my mom did get an A, so she was happy. ;)
i am also impressed that all those things are done in your house. i can see my dishes from here, the dryer is sounding the reminder alarm to get my clothes out, and i'm online. lol. :) it can wait. :)
